The People’s Choice Sing-Off

2012 Winners
Amateur Category...Roy Montelongo

Professional Category...Zaira Fausto

One of the special features of the 4th Annual Rosarito Beach International Mariachi & Folklórico Festival is what we call The People’s Choice Sing-Off. Some have called it ‘Mariachi Idol’ but if differs from the ‘Idol’ concept in several significant ways. First and foremost, the only judges will be the actual people voting…the members of the audience that will also be attending the two-day Competencia sessions scheduled for October 5th and October 6th, 2013. At the noon-time intermissions of both days competitions, five hand-picked vocal performers will sing one pre-approved (to eliminate redundancy of repertoire) ranchero selection, either self-accompanied by an instrument of their choice or by pre-recorded tracks (pistas).

Pre-printed ballots with the names of each day’s contestants will be pre-sold for $2 each before the sing-off. One half of the proceeds collected will go to The People’s Choice winner (the performer with the largest number of ballots marked in their favor) while the other half will be donated to the Club de Niños y Niñas Sección Rosarito.

You must contact us in advance to be part of this event. If you are not serious about your singing AND helping the Club, there is no need to read any further. Once you commit (give us your name and song of choice) and are chosen, the ballots will be pre-printed. A week before the event, the committee will hold a drawing of the names of the contestants to determine order of performance.

Please contact Rosy Torres via e-mail at rosymtorres@hotmail.com with your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and song of choice so that we can be in touch with you.

We appreciate your support of this very special event which will discover new talent while helping the at-risk children of our area.

Muchisimas gracias. We look forward to introducing the world to the next People’s Choice.
